A special committee has been established to oversee the family housing project for Guysborough district. The committee is being led by Allison Grady from the Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre and supported by our research assistant Alicia Clyke. The group has been creating a survey that will be distributed through partner service providers during March and April. The data collected will be analyzed and used to provide direction for the committee.
Following the survey, a community conversation will be held to share the results and confirm the needs and requirements for family housing. The Board of Directors has requested land from MoDG for the project in the Cutler’s Brook Estates. The preliminary plan is to create 12-14 town house units that are energy efficient.
The board plans to apply for funding from the Centre for Community Housing Transformation to cover the pre-development costs such as site feasibility and architectural design.
